This policy promotes fitness to work and how to deal effectively and appropriately with individual in relation to fitness for work through the following:

  • Conduct pre-employment medical examination prior to commencing of employment.
  • Conduct periodical medical examination to ensure the individual fitness to work.
  • Testing programme to verify conformance with fitness to work requirements i.e specialised work.
  • Raise employee awareness about their fitness status may be influenced by the following:
    • Health hazards associated with the work
    • Pre-existing health condition
    • Substance abuse of prohibited drugs and alcohol
    • Lifestyle
    • Non-work related illness
  • Providing effective, fair and constructive procedures for dealing with an employee who is unfit to work.
  • Ensuring the provision of confidentiality of fitness to work information.
